Applications are now being accepted for Teach in the City, a brand new salaried programme designed for graduates wanting a taste of the teaching profession in the following subjects:

• Biology
• Chemistry
• Computer Science
• English

• Geography
• History
• Maths
• Religious Education

Where is it based? The programme is based in Tower Hamlets, at the heart of a rejuvenated East London. With easy access to Shoreditch’s creative hub and bustling nightlife, Stratford’s shopping and sporting facilities, Greenwich’s heritage and the natural beauty of Epping Forest, it is the ideal place for a young professional to learn their trade while exploring and enjoying everything East London has to offer.

WHAT IS TEACH IN THE CITY?

Teach in the City provides opportunities for exceptional professional learning that will move you a step closer towards a career in teaching, as well as access to Initial Teacher Education (ITE) routes such as School Direct. The programme has been created by the City Excellence in Teaching Partnership, a cluster of high -performing secondary schools and Higher Education Institutions. It is suitable for talented and ambitious graduates – whether in employment or still at university.

WHY NOW?

We believe now is the ideal time to take part in Teach in the City. Ofsted has reported a noticeable jump in performance in Tower Hamlets; 92% of primary and 95% of secondary aged students are attending good or outstanding schools, considerably more than just five years ago. The local area’s educational renaissance is in full swing and we want to capitalise on this by attracting the brightest and best graduates to deliver an excellent education for future generations.

What can you expect?
